The food safety certification training course, offered by Retail Food Alliance, was created for managers, supervisors and chefs. The Food Safety Certification program is a prerequisite for the Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) training course. The training is offered online or in physical training locations. The company also offers the Food Handler Training Course. This course is for employees of schools and businesses.
Course concepts include basic food safety handling concepts, food safety, and hygiene practices. After paying for the course, users are provided with a username and password to access course materials. A new username and password is provided for the exam. The price of the Food Safety Course is $100 as of May 2010. The price for the Food Handler Certification depends on the number of persons taking the training. Students are mailed their certificates after passing the final exam.
TABC Food Safety Training

The Texas Alcohol Beverage Commission's (TABC) food safety training program is an online, self-paced course. The course meets food certification requirements in the state of Texas. All people who handle food in Texas must have a Food Handler's certificate. The length of the course is about three hours. Students can take up to 6 hours to allow for breaks and material reviews. Course topics include basic food safety and handling practices. Students take the exam online. If passed, they can print their certificate immediately. Students take the temporary card to their local health authority to register for their permanent certificate. The course fee is $10, which does not include the cost of registering with the State Health Department.
Professional Server Certification Corporation

The Professional Server Corporation offers online Food Safety certification training. Course material is taught by way of Interactive Flash Cards. The length of the course is four to six hours. Basic food handling and safety procedures are broken into several lessons. Students must pass each lesson quiz before moving on to the next session. The cost of the training is $24 per person. Restaurants and other businesses in the food industry can get special pricing by ordering the course for groups of employees. Students receive their certification after passing the exams.
National Restaurant Association

Online food safety certification training is offered by the National Restaurant Association in partnership with the ServSafe. The ServSafe Food Safety Program is accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI)-Conference for Food Protection (CFP). The course takes approximately 1 to 1 ½ hours to complete. Students have 60 days to complete the course. The training is divided into five sections: basic food safety; cross-contamination and allergens; time and temperature; cleaning and sanitation; and personal hygiene. The final exam consists of 40 questions. Students must get a score of 75 percent or higher to get their certificate. Students may retake the exam if they fail to pass it the first time. Upon training completion, students are awarded the ServSafe Starters Certificate. The cost for the program varies by state.

SuperSafeMark offers a comprehensive food safety training program for employees and management personnel. The training utilizes graphic and text materials as well as real-life case studies and scenarios. Course work meets the FDA Model Food Code. Course subjects include personal hygiene; cross-contamination; time and temperature management; cleaning and sanitizing and management systems. Companies can have their logos and policies printed in training materials. Training is provided at a SuperSafeMark facility. Training courses are given in one- or two-day formats. After passing the course, students can register to take the Certified Food Manager Exam. Prices for the course and the exam are provided upon request.
