How to Preserve Water With Clorox
When traveling to other areas of the world where the water is suspect, you need to preserve and purify the water before drinking it. The water can contain harmful bacteria that when ingested can make you sick. Using Clorox to purify water, however, should not be done on a regular basis, only in emergency situations.Things You'll Need
- Gallon milk jug
- Eyedropper
- Clorox bleach
Instructions

-
1
Fill a clean gallon milk jug to the top with the water you want to preserve and purify.
-
2
Place an eyedropper into a bottle of Clorox bleach and fill it up.
-
3
Drop eight drops of the Clorox bleach into the gallon of water.
-
4
Close the top of the milk jug and shake it vigorously to ensure the bleach circulates through the entire container.
-
5
Let the container sit for 30 minutes. Once the 30 minutes expires, you can begin to drink it (or use it for your other means). The water should have a slight bleach smell to it, but you won't be able to taste the bleach. If there is no odor, repeat the process and let the water stand for an additional 15 minutes.
