What does it mean - evidence?
1. Data supporting a statement or idea, or facts indicating whether a specific action is true or valid.
* There was very little evidence to support his theory.
* All she needed was some clear evidence that she could show the judge.
2. An indication of some past event, especially as preserved as part of the remains of a prehistoric people.
* Evidence of prehistoric cave drawings and the fossilized remains of animals were discovered that suggest life had been present as early as 68,000 B.C.
3. (law) Testimony, documents, and so on, offered in proof of facts for consideration by a judge or jury in determining an issue in dispute.
* Both sides will call witnesses and provide other evidence before resting their cases.
