How to Donate Your Body to Science in Texas
You probably don't place much thought into how your doctor learned to treat you when you visit his or her office. You just want a cure for your ailments and the ability to go home as quickly as possible. Before your doctor was able to diagnose your issues, he or she was a student with little knowledge in the field of medicine. Your doctor learned by reading, studying and practicing medical techniques on the bodies of the deceased. In Texas, all university science centers accept human body donations for students to obtain a firsthand knowledge of the human body.Instructions

1
Contact the science center of any Texas University to become a body donor. You are required to fill out a form detailing your desire to donate your body to medical science upon your demise. You can request a copy of the form from any science center offices, online or through the mail.

2
Discuss the decision with your family before signing your donation form. The decision to donate your body to medical science affects your family in that once you die your body is immediately donated, meaning your family cannot have it for your funeral and it cannot be cremated or buried by your family.

3
Complete and sign your donation form. The form requires the additional signatures of two witnesses, which can be anyone you know over the age of 21 or a notary public.
-
4
Return your donation form to the university to which you are donating your body; when you die it is up to your family to notify the science center of your death and make arrangements to have your body transported to the science center if you are more than 50 miles from the center.
