IR LED Safety
-
Benefits
-
The infrared rays from this type of LED can improve blood circulation. Infrared therapy can improve joint mobility and flexibility. This type of therapy can also relieve pain, reduce muscle stiffness and decrease soreness.
Considerations
-
Perhaps the only downfall linked with therapy involving LED infrared rays is that it can be damaging to the eyes. The eye does not react to infrared rays produced by an infrared LED; the pupil will not react to protect the retina from the rays. As a result, the retina can easily be damaged from overexposure to infrared light produced by the LED.
Safety
-
Consumers should exercise caution while employing this type of therapy. As a safety measure, a doctor or medical professional should be consulted. While working with a large number of active infrared LEDs the consumer should wear eye protection.
