    Common Side Effects

    • Side effects that may occur as a result of nicotinamide use include diarrhea, drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, upset stomach, vomiting, headache and flushing of the skin. Though not serious, contact your doctor if these side effects become bothersome. Worsening or persistent side effects are a sign for concern.

    Severe Side Effects

    • Drugs.com reports that in rare cases, the following severe side effects may arise: yellowing of the skin or eyes, swelling of the extremities, bloody stools, severe nausea and vomiting, stomach pain, irregular heartbeat, vision changes and loss of appetite. Severe allergic reaction signaled by swelling of the face may also occur. These are severe side effects and should be dealt with immediately.

    Possible Drug Interactions

    • It is possible that nicotinamide may react negatively with a number of drugs. Always check a complete list of drug interactions before regularly using nicotinamide. This drug may react mildly with avandaryl, avonex, extavia, glucophage, insulin, janumet and novolin. Always alert your doctor to other medications you are taking.

    Safety Information

    • Since nicotinamide may cause dizziness and drowsiness, operate cars and heavy machinery with extreme caution. Using alcohol with this product may cause delirium and other severe side effects. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, check with your doctor before using nicotinamide.
