R-Cinex, also marketed as Rifampicin or Rifampin, is used to treat patients with tuberculosis and patients with meningitis who are asymptomatic. R-Cinex is a combination drug that is classified as an antibiotic, and helps prevent the spread of the bacteria responsible for causing tuberculosis. R-Cinex is used both to prevent and treat tuberculosis, particularly in India and other areas where the threat of TB may be high.
Common Side Effects

Side effects associated with R-Cinex use include cramps, menstrual changes, stomach pain, headache, diarrhea, drowsiness and dizziness, gas, heartburn and bloating. Contact your doctor if any of these symptoms persist or intensify in severity. Worsening side effects could signal a more serious problem.
Severe Side Effects

Drugs.com reports that in rare cases, the following side effects can arise: dark or frequent urination, fever, chills, yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), wheezing, changes in vision, mental changes, loss of appetite, nausea, and joint pain or swelling. These side effects are severe, and you should contact a health-care professional immediately.

R-Cinex reacts adversely with the following common medications: Ambien, Bactrim DS, Darvocet, Lipitor, Plavix, Seroquel, Singulair, Tums and Xanax. Do not operate cars or heavy machinery until you are familiar with how R-Cinex affects you. R-Cinex will not treat viral infections. This medication may cause your current birth-control medication to work less effectively, so use a backup method when taking the drug. Elderly people should use the drug with caution, and women should not breast-feed while taking R-Cinex.
