How to Control Dopamine
Instructions
-
-
1
Assess your personal circumstances and decide whether you would rather try to control your dopamine levels naturally, or if you believe you need medical treatment.
-
2
Make an appointment to see your physician if you feel it is necessary.
-
3
Help control your dopamine level naturally by eating a balanced diet of carbohydrates (breads and potatoes) and protein (meat and eggs). Carbohydrates will help lower dopamine levels, while proteins will help regulate dopamine levels in the brain.
-
4
Take a multivitamin rich in vitamin B (a substance that helps combat low dopamine levels), iron and zinc.
-
5
Limit excessive alcohol intake (more than two drinks per day). Excessive alcohol can lead to low dopamine levels over time.
-
6
Talk to your doctor about prescribing a dopamine regulation medication if necessary. Whether your dopamine level is too high or low, you may be prescribed a dopamine blocker or dopamine inhibitor. These medications can help in the treatments of Parkinson's disease, bipolar disorder, or other types of mental illness.
