Zythromax Side Effects

Zythromax is a commonly administered antibiotic most often for the treatment of ear, nose and throat infections. Though it is available through prescription only, there are a host of side-effects that every user needs to understand.
  1. Common Side-Effects.

    • Most side effects are gastrointestinal and include diarrhea, loose stools, nausea, stomach pain, and vomiting.

    Allergic Reactions.

    • Those patients allergic to azithromycin (clinical name) can experience reactions including hives, itching, difficulty breathing, tightness in the chest, swelling of the face (mouth, lips, tongue), or hoarseness.

    Severe Reactions.

    • Some severe reactions reported have included bloody stools, hearing impairment, vision impairment, irregular heartbeat, muscle weakness, blistering skin, trouble swallowing or speaking, and yellowing of the skin or eyes.

    • For users suffering reaction to Zythromax, discontinued use reversed effects.

    Reactions with other Drugs.

    • Use of Zythromax has been known to render ineffective certain methods for contraception including birth control pills.
