Side Effects of Necon 1

Necon 1/35, often shortened to Necon 1, is a drug frequently sold as ethinyl estradiol and norethindrone that is used as a form of contraception. As is common with prescription drugs, Necon 1/35 can cause a variety of side effects depending on the dose and duration of use.

    • Necon 1/35 is a combination prescription drug that contains hormones to prevent ovulation in a female. It works specifically by making it difficult for sperm to reach the uterus. According to Drugs.com, it also makes it difficult for a "...fertilized egg to attach to the uterus". This medication should be used strictly in females.

    Common Side Effects

    • Common side effects that may arise due to the use of this medication include mild nausea, vomiting, irregular menstrual bleeding, tenderness of the breasts, headache, unusual weight changes, mild dizziness, and increasing hair growth. Though common, contact your doctor immediately if any of the above side effects persist or become more severe. Worsening side effects may be a sign of a serious condition.

    Severe Side Effects

    • According to Drugs.com, users of Necon 1/35 may experience the following severe side effects: numbness on one side of the body, pain behind the eyes, vision problems, speech and balance problems, severe stomach pain and nausea, irregularly colored stools, chest pain, and fever.     Using Necon 1/35

    • Necon 1/35 is often taken on the first day of a woman's period or the first Sunday after. The usual dosage is one pill per day. Be sure to follow your doctor's prescription to avoid taking an incorrect dose. Necon 1/35 is available as a chewable pill and a non-chewable tablet. If using the non-chewable form, take Necon 1/35 with a full glass of water. Store at room temperature away from heat and moisture.
