Timolol GFS, a medication sold under the brand name Blocadren, is used for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). Use of this product may lead to the experiencing of a number of mild to severe side effects depending on the individual and the dosage.-

Timolol GFS is a prescription drug which is classified as a beta-blocker. As such, it works by specifically blocking the body's natural chemicals which induce constriction of the blood vessels. It treats high blood pressure and also acts as a preventative measure against second heart attacks in individuals recovering from a first heart attack. In lesser cases, Timolol is used to treat individuals suffering from migraines.

Timolol GFS users have experienced the following common side effects: general weakness, slow or irregular heartbeat, mild dizziness, fatigue, mild insomnia, anxiety, mild drowsiness, and lightheadedness. Drugs.com reports that users of Timolol GFS have experienced the following serious side effects: chest pain, irregular heat rhythms, difficulty breathing, fainting, feelings of depression, swelling of the extremities, nausea, upset stomach, stomach pain, and cold feet or hands. Users may also experience a severe allergic reaction recognized by severe swelling of the face, lips, or throat. Contact your doctor immediately if any of these serious side effects arise.

Closely follow your prescription as directed by your doctor. Timolol GFS can be taken with or without food, but should be taken with a full glass (8 oz.) of water. Try to take the medication at the same time each day in order to easily adhere to a schedule and avoid missed doses. Never take a double dose to compensate for a skipped dose. Timolol GFS is most effective when paired with a strict diet and exercise plan.

Women who are pregnant or breast-feeding are strongly discouraged from using this product as is belongs to FDA category C and is thus deemed as harmful to an unborn child. This medication can be transferred through breast milk. The effectiveness of this product has not yet been determined in children.
