Lab Safety Clothing
It's better to wear a little too much gear than not enough when working in a lab, be it a medical, chemical or other type of facility. Besides donning proper gear, the number one way to protect yourself and others in these environments is to use common sense. Also, follow standard safety practices like wearing shoes that fully cover your feet, and don't permit anyone in the lab that doesn't have authorized access to it.-
Goggles
-
Plastic goggles protect your eyes in case hazardous materials splash upward or fall from above.
Nylon Aprons
-
These aprons cover from the shoulders to the feet and guard from materials that are acidic or caustic.
Barrier Gown
-
Barrier gowns are similar to what doctors wear in operating rooms. They also cover the arms, unlike an apron.
Face Mask
-
Masks both prevent breathing in toxic chemicals and infecting a sterile area with germs from your breath.
Bouffant Cap
-
This hat completely covers the scalp and keeps long hair from dangling near open flame or moving machinery.
Aluminized Pants
-
Aluminized pants offer fire protection by covering you from your waist to your ankles.
Gloves
-
Gloves protect your hands in case of spills or other accidents.
