Electric Cart Safety
Electric carts are used in a wide range of environments from film studios to golf courses. There are a number of safety factors that must be considered before using one of these vehicles.-
Ejections
-
Because electric carts often lack doors and seat belts, it is easy for drivers and passengers to be ejected from the cart. This is more worrisome for passengers who may not be prepared for the driver to make a sharp turn. The best way to avoid this is to make use of hand holds that are usually installed on these vehicles.
Rolling
-
Because electric carts often drive over small hills and through small valleys, rollovers are a constant threat. These may be prevented by driving slowly and avoiding sharp turns. Furthermore, sometimes electric cart breaks are not equipped for steep downward hills. Always approach downward hills slowly, and use breaks liberally.
Child Safety
-
According to the Consumer Products Safety Commission, children aged 6 to 16 are most at risk for being injured in an electric cart accident. This often results in policies prohibiting children from riding in electric carts.
