How to Keep My Feet From Getting Cold
Every winter in a rush to get the warmest coats, hats and thermal underwear, we sometimes forget about our feet. During the winter months, our fingers and toes are the first to get cold. When you are stuck outside, you can stick your hands inside coat pockets, but we can't do that with our feet. The best defense against cold feet is to wear the proper socks and boots to retain the moisture in your feet.Things You'll Need
- Wool or fleece socks
- Waterproof boots
- Plastic wrap or polypropylene socks

1
Wear fleece or wool socks. If you are going to be in cold weather for an extended period of time, the insulating fabric of fleece or wool will keep your feet warm the longest.
-
2
Drink plenty of water every day. Keeping your body well hydrated helps retain moisture in your body. The lack of fluid in your body restricts your circulatory system, making your feet feel cold.
-
3
Avoid wearing boots that are laced too tight and cut off your circulation. Select winter boots a full size bigger than your actual size to accommodate for thick socks. Also, yours boot should be waterproof.
-
4
Wear plastic wrap or a polypropylene sock liner on your feet underneath your socks. Both plastic and polypropylene keep the moisture in your feet by preventing it from evaporating. Put on another layer of plastic wrap over your socks if your boots are not waterproof.
-
5
Rub antiperspirant on the soles of your feet. This will help keep your feet from sweating, which keeps the moisture in your feet.
-
6
Place toe warmers in the front tips of your boots. These tiny heating pads need a little shaking to work.
-
7
Keep the rest of your body warm. Wear a warm coat, hat, scarf and gloves. If the rest of your body is warm, your circulatory system will be able to continue sending blood to the feet to keep them warm.
