How to Waterproof an Arm Cast
An arm cast does not necessarily prevent you from taking part in day-to-day necessities like bathing. Whether you broke a bone in your arm or suffered a sprain, you can take simple measures to make your cast waterproof. While some casts today already are waterproof, many are still composed of plaster of Paris, which means you will need to use a plastic bag or custom sleeve to waterproof your cast.Things You'll Need
- Plastic trash bag
- Waterproof adhesive tape
- Rubber bands

1
Use a plastic garbage bag to cover your arm cast. Remember to inspect the bag for any holes to prevent water from leaking in.
-
2
Ask a friend or assistant to use waterproof tape to tighten the bag above the cast. Loop the tape two or three times to ensure the bag stays in place.
-
3
Add another loop of tape below the cast and in the middle of the cast to secure the bag and keep it from getting in your way and possibly getting torn.
-
4
Use rubber bands to secure the bag further, but be careful not to create too much pressure or reduce your blood circulation.
