How to Get Rid Of Ticks On An Animal Or Human

Ticks pose a danger to humans and animals alike. They can pass a wide variety of diseases to their hosts, including Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. Once a tick buries its head under the skin and feeds on the host, it must be carefully removed. The process for removal is the same whether the host is human or animal.

Instructions

    • 1

Grip the tick with the pliers or tweezers, as close to its head as possible. Do not crush the tick at this point or you will leave the head under the skin.

    • 2

Gently, but firmly, pull straight back. Do not twist or turn the tweezers. Continue pulling until the tick's head is removed from the host's skin.

    • 3

Crush the tick and throw it in the trash. Wash the infected area thoroughly with soap and water.
