1
Check yourself and your pets regularly to be sure there aren't ticks on you. This works as a preventative method, and is especially good for house pets that go outside to romp in tall grass before coming back inside. All ticks you find should be removed and killed.

2
Lay down towels in the places your pets regularly lay. Wash these towels to kill any ticks that end up in them. This will help minimize the ticks that make it off your pet and into the house. Combine this with regularly washing your pet, tick treatments on your pet, and if necessary, having your pet wear a flea collar. This will help keep your animals safe.

3
Vacuum your floors and furniture regularly. This will suck up dead ticks, living ticks, tick eggs and all of the other contaminants that you might find in a house with ticks. Dispose of the vacuum bags outside, and make sure that they're thrown out after every vacuuming.

Use a tick treatment in your home. These treatments come in the forms of bombs, which fumigate your house, as well as sprays time-release treatments. Once applied you need to be careful to wash all surfaces and utensils that you eat with, and to continue vacuuming and washing clothes and cloths regularly to get all the dead ticks out of them and to get any live ticks that the initial treatment missed.
