1
Locate a nearby junction or main electrical box. Make sure there is an open terminal, or circuit, available for the tanning bed's wiring. Shut the main electrical power off. Sunstar's bed must be hard-wired into an electrical box, instead of plugging into a typical electrical outlet like other tanning bed types.
-
2
Position the tanning bed in its permanent area. Run electrical wire from the bed's positive power input to the junction or main electrical box.
-
3
Attach the electrical wire to the open terminal on the electrical box with a screwdriver. Verify that the wire is snugly tightened into the electrical box.
-
4
Run electrical wire from the bed's negative, or ground, input to the electrical panel's grounding terminal. The box should already be grounded to the earth for the other circuits attached within the assembly.
-
5
Attach the electrical wiring to the grounding terminal. Confirm that it is connected firmly. A solid ground connection for the Sunstar bed ensures that the user will not be accidentally electrocuted during use.
-
6
Plug the canopy wire into the bench socket on the bed's side panel. This connection attaches the top and bottom portions of the bed together for equal power contact. Sunstar uses this type of separated connection between the top and bottom portions, allowing more room in between for the user. Other manufacturers simply have hinged assemblies between the top and bottom portions, negating the need for a connection wire.
-
7
Power the main electrical panel on. Turn the tanning bed on. Verify that both the bed's top and bottom portions receive power and function correctly.
