How to Change Your Voice Naturally

Voice changes occur naturally throughout a person's life. The vocal chords change during adolescence and continually as we age. For some people, this change is gradual and leaves them with a high-pitched voice. Having a childlike voice may leave you at a professional and social disadvantage. It's difficult for people to recognize a power broker who has a squeaky tone. With practice and the right vocal exercises, you can change the pitch and overall sound of your voice without taking medication.

Record your voice reading a page from a book or talking to a friend. Then record yourself humming a song you know well such as, "Happy Birthday" or "Itsy-Bitsy Spider."

Listen to the two vocal demonstrations. The pitch you hum is your natural pitch. Practice speaking at the humming pitch. Do this by humming, then speaking. Repeat this method privately until you have retrained yourself to speak at the humming pitch.

Focus on breathing from your diaphragm or abdomen. Shallow breathing will make your voice high and unimpressive. Speak using air pulled from your chest or abdomen, not your nose. Practice this breathing technique every day for 20 minutes until you are satisfied with the results.
