The Omron HJ-105 is a pedometer. Pedometers are electronic instruments useful to people who walk regularly and count every step. Omron's Model HJ-105 provides the additional benefits of tracking the distance walked, fat grams and calories burned. Set the Omron HJ-105

Calculate your stride length by walking 10 steps in your normal stride.

Measure the distance from your starting point to your stopping point in inches. Write down the measurement and divide it by 10.

Convert your calculation to feet and inches to figure the length of your stride. For example, 37 inches equals three feet and one inch. In this instance, three feet and one inch is the stride length. Write it down for future use.

Lift the Omron HJ-105's case clip to open it. Remove the protective film from the digital display. Look for the display to power on for two seconds. This indicates the pedometer is going into the setting mode.

Press and hold the "set" button until the hour blinks. Press "memory" to set the hour. Press and hold "set" again to operate the minute function. Adjust it with the "memory" button. Press "set" again to save the time.

Press and hold the "memory" button until the weight display blinks. Press "memory" until it displays your current weight. Press "set" to save your weight.

Press "memory" to activate the stride length setting. Press "memory" until the device displays your stride length. Press "set" to save your stride length.
Use the Omron HJ-105

Press the "reset" button for two seconds until the display reads zero.

Close the Omron HJ-105. Press open the clip and clip it to your belt or waistband. Ensure that you position the pedometer horizontal to the ground.

Confirm the unit's operating condition by walking 100 steps on a level platform. Check the pedometer for accuracy. If it's inaccurate, slide the "sensitivity adjustment" switch in the plus or minus direction to fix the number displayed.

Begin walking. The Omron HJ-105 will record your steps.
