Determine your height, if you don't already know it. Make sure to remove your footwear. Have someone else use the tape measure.

Calculate your optimal weight if you are a woman. The formula for women is 100 pounds for the first 60 inches (or 5 feet.) Add 5 pounds for every additional inch.

Calculate the optimal weight for a man. The formula is 106 pounds for the first 5 feet (60 inches.) Add 6 pounds for every additional inch.
