What Is an ISO Block?

An ISO block is a generic term meaning isolation block. Several companies in various industries use the term ISO-Block to identify their product. Producers of electronic wiring harnesses, wood-fired stoves and high-voltage safety devices all use isolation blocks in their products.

  1. Wiring Harnesses

    • ISO blocks are used in wiring harnesses to prevent wires from shorting to ground or to each other. These blocks are common in stereo equipment.

    Wood Fired Stoves

    • ISO blocks in the form of ceramic blocks are used to insulate wood stoves. Surrounding the stove or fireplace with ISO blocks increases heating efficiency and provides safety to the home.

    High Voltage Protection

    • ISO blocks designed for the construction industry are used on lifting equipment such as a crane. The ISO block is positioned between the operator and the lifting component of the crane. If the crane makes contact with a high-voltage wire, the ISO block protects the operator from electrocution.
