Garbage Drop-Box Safety

Garbage drop boxes are sites at which individuals and organizations can deposit various kinds of waste. Because garbage drop-box sites often store hazardous materials, there are a number of safety factors to consider when using one of these sites.

  1. Transporting Materials

    • When transporting materials to the garbage drop-box site, always ensure that your load is securely fastened to your vehicle. Failure to do so may result in severe fines.

    Prohibited Items

    • While garbage drop-box sites allow a vast array of hazardous materials, some may still be prohibited. A short list includes explosives, smoldering material, certain kinds of paint, televisions, motor vehicles and major parts of motor vehicles and computers.

    Site Safety Rules

    • When waiting at the transfer station of the garbage drop-box site, it is recommended that cell phones be turned off, that children and pets be kept inside vehicles, that directions by the site director always be followed and that smoking be disallowed.
