How to Clean an Underground Water Tank
Underground water tanks are ideal storage solutions that save a great deal of space. Because they are buried underground, they are mostly made of industrial strength polyethylene in order to be installed under lawns and concrete. They range in sizes from 300 to 10,000 liters. You can clean an underground water tank in about an hour using a number of pumps, antibacterial agents and water. For the best result, it is better if properly qualified personnel do this job.Things You'll Need
- Portable vacuum pump (at least 120-psi)
- High-pressure cleaning jet
- Industrial pump
- Antibacterial spray

1
Clean all surrounding areas leading to the opening of the tank to help prevent dirt from dropping into the tank once the cleaning process begins. As underground tanks are buried, the opening is often the only way to gain access to them and most openings are large enough to accommodate the pumps necessary for cleaning. Underground tanks can be unearthed, but this would be impractical for regular cleaning.

2
Remove sludge and dirty water with the vacuum pump until the tank is empty.
-
3
Clean the walls and ceiling of the tank using the high-pressure cleaning jet.
-
4
Use the vacuum pump to remove any remaining sludge after cleaning it with the high-pressure jet. Use the industrial pump to remove any remaining dirt.
-
5
Spray the tank with antibacterial spray to help kill germs and sterilize the tank.
