ANSI Packaging Standards
-
Function
-
Packaging guidelines are provided for all industries that utilize packaging material and supply distribution. Although these standards are voluntary, ANSI guidelines are used as a measuring stick for quality control, industrial improvements and for both domestic and foreign business management.
Features
-
ANSI provides requirements and testing needed for packaging supplies for both domestic and foreign distribution. Packaging type examples include metal drums, cellular polystyrene, polyurethane and fiberboard. Tests include filling ratios, insulating properties, operating pressures of metals and dimension requirements, to name a few.
Significance
-
Not only does ANSI provide requirements for packaging and distribution, it also provides guidelines for packaging equipment. These requirements establish safety rules with respect to packaging machinery and construction. By setting these guidelines, ANSI helps packagers improve automotive productivity and keep employees safe.
