Help With Getting Rid of Bedbugs

The United States has recently experienced a bedbug epidemic. Although hotels have seen the highest amount of bedbug cases, these pesky little creatures can appear anywhere. Although a challenge and major annoyance, getting rid of bedbugs can be accomplished if certain steps are diligently followed.
  1. Wash All Bed Linens

    • Launder your bed linens in steaming water. If there is anything on the bed that cannot be washed, seal it in bags and keep them closed for several weeks to kill the bedbugs.

    Disinfect the Room

    • Clean all of the surfaces in and around the area of the bed. Wipe all furniture down with disinfectant spray. Make sure to also thoroughly vacuum the room to suck up the bedbugs. Don't just vacuum the carpet, do all other areas around the bed as well.

    Spray the Room

    • Use insecticides to get rid of the rest of the bedbugs. The chemicals in insecticides are very strong and potentially very dangerous, so use caution when spraying the room. Make sure to keep small children and pets out of the room, as a lethal situation could occur if they were to come in contact with the insecticides.

    Tape Them Up

    • Place double-sided tape around the infected area. The bedbugs will get stuck on this while crawling around. This is both a good way to catch them and a good way to see if they're still in your room.
