Can You Leave a Candle Warmer on All the Time?

Candle warmers refer to electric heating pads that warm the wax of a candle, releasing its scent. Since candle warmers don't involve an open flame, they are safer than candles. However, candle warmers can still cause fires and damage if not properly supervised, so you should not leave a candle warmer on all the time.
  1. Safety Basics

    • Always read the manufacturer's instructions before using a candle warmer. Do not leave a candle warmer unsupervised, since the heating element presents a fire risk. Never sleep with your candle warmer turned on. Keep candle warmers away from kids and pets.

    Electrical Hazards

    • Keep candle warmers away from any sources of liquid. If your candle warmer gets wet, do not touch it. If possible, turn off the circuit breaker. If you cannot turn off the circuit breaker, use a dry rubber glove to unplug the warmer.

    Warning

    • In 2008, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission issued a recall for Candlsense Warmers, a candle warmer manufactured by Provo Craft & Novelty. The heating element of the candle warmer reportedly melted the warmer's plastic casing, which could ignite the surface around it.
