How to Set Up Safety Meetings

Safety meetings are where issues of safety are discussed and solutions are suggested to solve those problems. However, a safety meeting will do you no good if you don't put some time and thought into putting it together and running it efficiently. Fortunately, setting up a safety meeting is a relatively simple thing to do.

Instructions

    • 1

Decide who needs to attend the meeting and what the issue of the day is. For instance, if you need to do something about better water cleanup, then you're going to want the janitorial staff in attendance. If on the other hand the meeting is going to deal with hard hat procedures, then you'll want foremen and safety equipment people present. You should try and keep only one issue per meeting, and you should have a definite problem that needs to be discussed.

    • 2

Choose a day and time for the meeting. Make sure that all necessary participants can show up for the meeting and that it doesn't conflict with other responsibilities.

    • 3

Find a location to host the meeting. Most companies or businesses should have a meeting room set aside for just this purpose but if not then you'll have to find somewhere that will comfortably hold everyone. If you need certain types of media, like projectors or video screens, then you should keep that in mind when you're choosing your location.
