How to Use Cinders for Snow Removal

Cinders are one of a variety of materials people use for snow removal and easier cleanup. Scattering cinders on top of your snow won't make it go away, though; it will just make the snow darker in color. Cinders are a preventative step, and you need to make sure the cinders are laid down in a thin coating before any actual snow falls for them to be effective.

  Scatter the cinders over the pavement before it snows. The cinders will stop the snow from sticking to the pavement, which will make it easier to remove.

  Shovel off the snow and the cinders. There's no way to keep the cinders you scattered on the ground and just remove the snow, since rather than sticking to the ground, the snow is now sticking to the cinders.

  Spread more cinders to act as another preventative layer for the next bout of snow removal.
