Air Quality Testing & Training

The Environmental Protection Agency has set air protection standards to protect public heath and welfare from any detrimental effects due to air pollution. Air quality is evaluated through toxicity to humans and exposure to pollutants.
  1. Air Pollutant Monitoring

    • Research and testing for methods of air quality sampling, measuring, analyzing, and modeling is continual for industries that release air pollutants into the environment. Companies that have ongoing air quality monitoring include vehicle industries, sanitation companies, and industrial factories.

    Air Quality Testing

    • Types of air quality laboratory testing include ion chromatography, carbon combustion analysis, humidity-controlled microbalance, spectrometry, airborne mass determination, electron microscopy, ELISA, asbestos testing, polymerase chain reaction (PCR), and bacteria cultures.

    Air Quality Training

    • Training courses for air quality are available through the Environmental Protection Agency and private organizations. The type of organization or the type of air pollutant you measure will determine the course of training. All organizations are required to have specific training for their employees documented through a quality assurance program. The Ambient Air Monitoring Program of the Environmental Protection Agency suggests a sequence of courses for those who have little or no training in air monitoring or testing.
