Elkay Water Cooler Specs

Elkay Commercial Products produce water coolers of differing designs and specifications. They are rated by how the cooler is designed for use, the rate of water flow in gallons per hour, the energy needed to operate the cooler, the ability of the cooler to fill water containers and whether the cooler meets the standards established by the Americans with Disabilities Act.

  1. Cooler Types

    • Elkay makes wall-mounted and recessed wall-mounted coolers with push buttons or bars used to activate the water flow. The water tank is nonpressurized and located behind the water flow valve. The unit will only dispense water when the bar is activated. Coolers are also available as wall-mounted, hands-free units. Water will only be dispensed when motion detectors have been activated. Floor-mounted coolers come designed with a push button on the water flow apparatus or with optional foot pedal kits to trigger the water flow.

    ADA Certified

    • Other design features are specific to the Americans with Disabilities Act. Water coolers meet this qualification when the spout height is no more than 36 inches from floor to spout outlet. The spouts are within 3 inches from the front of the fountain and direct the water parallel to the front of the cooler. The water control buttons are located on the side or front of the cooler.

    GPH

    • The Elkay Water Cooler is graded on the amount of 50-degree Fahrenheit water it can produce in an hour. The measurement is based on the indoor inlet water being 80 or 90 degrees for outdoor coolers.

    Energy Use

    • Elkay Water Coolers are also rated by the amount of volts required to run the unit and the watts consumed per hour. The watts consumed are based on the units operational run time, the number of people served per hour as well as the inlet water temperature.

    Other Options

    • In addition to the foot pedals available on some floor model water coolers, Elkay offers the option on some of their coolers to add additional water flow devices. The devices are designed to permit the filling of a water glass or other water containers.
