How to Store Oxygen Bottles

Oxygen Bottles are safe to store in the correct conditions. Whether an oxygen bottle is in your home or office, the area you store the oxygen bottle needs to be free of any hazards. When exposed to a heat source, an oxygen bottle will not likely explode. However, the oxygen in the bottles can fuel a fire, causing it to burn at a hotter and faster rate.

Instructions

    • 1

Choose a room away from heat sources, such as ovens, space heaters, baseboard heaters or large windows. Make sure the room is well ventilated to prevent the buildup of oxygen in the event of a leak.

    • 2

Place the bottles in an area where they will not be knocked over. Some bottles come with a base to keep the bottles secure.

    • 3

Post a large non-smoking sign in the area of the oxygen bottles.
