Texas Health Safety Code

The Texas Health and Safety code was implemented in 2005 and is a wide-ranging resource covering state laws on health and safety. The text of the code can be found on the Texas Constitution and Statutes website.

    • The Texas Health and Safety Code was adopted in 2005. It was made effective from September 1, 2005.

    Publicly Administered Areas Covered

    • The Health and Safety Code covers such areas as the organization and powers of the Texas Department of Health, general healthcare and healthcare provision, powers and duties of local government relating to public health issues, sewage treatment, blood banks, organ donation, indigent healthcare and treatment and home and community support services.

    Privately-owned Business

    • The Health and Safety Code also covers private business, such as renderers, tanning facilities, tattoo studios, food service restaurants, toxic chemical businesses, frozen food manufacturers, animal shelters, fire regulations, cemeteries, skate parks, drug and alcohol rehab providers, certain drug manufacturers and state schools.
