Strobe Light Warnings

Strobe lights can accentuate a party by providing an appropriate atmosphere. You can create an environment where your attendees will feel as though they are in a fancy night club or luxurious bar, as opposed to your living room. However, strobe lights can be dangerous and may even be fatal to certain individuals. You may want to think twice.
  1. Epilesy

    • Due to the frequent flashing in strobe lights, they can cause seizures in those who are epileptic. Strobe lights can flash anywhere from five to 30 flashes per second, enough to cause serious harm to those who are photosensitive. During a seizure, the person may experience vomiting, excretion of blood, muscle tension and temporary loss of vision. Some seizures can lead to death.

    Eye Damage

    • Strobe lights produce bright illumination. In fact, the high-intensity brightness can injure your eyes if you stare at it for a long period of time. In addition to harming your eyes, you can also face temporary dangers. You may be temporarily blinded and can harm yourself or those around you, particularly at a party or in a night club where the room is more often crowded than not.

    Precautions

    • While strobe lights are dangerous and can even be fatal, you can prevent serious injuries by taking precautions. For example, do not stare at a strobe light for more than a few seconds. While it may be alluring, keeping your sight away can be the difference between safety and injury. Another precaution you can take is to aim the strobe light at a wall or cover it up with a thin article of clothing as opposed to aiming it directly down on attendees. This diminishes the brightness while keeping the effects of a strobe light for your party.
