1
Check your local Yellow Pages for the nearest plasma collection center, blood collection facility, or blood bank. You may also visit floridaplasma.com, google or yahoo for a list of collection centers located throughout Florida.
-
2
Make an appointment to donate plasma. Many clinics, hospitals, and collection centers do accept walk-ins. Do not assume this though. Call and speak to a representative to confirm.
-
3
Eat something and drink plenty of water two hours prior before donating plasma. This helps to avoid any lightheadedness, which is common while donating blood.
-
4
Go to your local facility and donate your plasma. Expect to be there for roughly 45-60 minutes. If you're a first time donor, expect to be there for up to a couple of hours. You will be questioned regarding your medical history and a physical exam will be performed. This is done to gauge whether you are a legitimate candidate for plasma donation. If doctors find you to be an eligible donor, they will connect you to the machine. That process takes approximately 45 minutes.
