Cancer Registry Programs

Cancer registry programs collect, analyze and disseminate data about various types of cancer. The collected information is used to track cancer trends and allocate resources for prevention, screening and treatment efforts.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) maintains the National Program of Cancer Registries (NPCR), which serves as a central repository for information collected from clinics, hospitals and doctors' offices around the United States. The NPCR tracks data representing 96 percent of the U.S. population.
