Black Mold Life Cycle
Under the right environmental conditions, black mold can form on just about any surface. Molds can, in some cases, be quite a nuisance when present in your home. If left untreated, it can have an impact on your health.-
Suitable Surface
-
The beginning of black mold's life cycle starts when a mold spore makes contact and settles on a surface where the right conditions for growth exist. For growth to occur, humidity must be present.
Hyphae
-
After settling in the right environment, roots called hyphae begin to grow. These roots are like the stomach of the mold as they release enzymes that absorb nutrients and digest materials.
Spore Growth
-
As the hyphae grow, spores will begin to form on some of the ends of the cells.
Spores Released
-
After the spores form and grow on the ends of the hyphae, they are released into the air and carried off in search of a new surface.
Continuing Cycle
-
Once the airborne spore finds a new environment to call home, the germination process begins anew on other surfaces.
