Feces Stain Removal
Removing unwanted stains is an important part of maintaining a palatable place to live, especially if the stains come from feces. Feces can originate from pets, babies, or an extremely unfortunate incident. Finding effective ways to remove the stains will not only help make your domicile sanitary, but it will also help to make it homey.-
Preparation
-
Assuming that the feces has been removed and disposed of properly and that you are wearing suitable protection so as not to be contaminated by any bacteria or other nasties, you are now ready to remove the feces stain.
Stains on Carpet
-
Test any stain removing formula on an inconspicuous piece of carpet before treating the actual stain so that you know that it will not alter the color of the carpet. Use a cloth to scrub the stain with cold, soapy water. Liquid dishwashing detergent will work well for the suds. Apply laundry stain remover, and continue to scrub with the cloth, rinsing it out several times in the water. Repeat as necessary until the stain is no longer visible. Use paper towels to soak up as much water as possible.
Stains on Clothing or Other Washable Products
-
If you have not already done so, wipe the fecal matter off the clothing and into the toilet. Get some warm water and stain remover, and apply the stain remover to the clothing. Wash the clothing according to directions and use bleach. Make sure that the color does not fade or become altered from interacting with the bleach. You may want to consider washing it twice just to be certain it is sanitary. It is important to wash the clothing as soon as possible. If it is from clothing such as white underwear, mixing Sprite with salt may remove the stain.
Odor Removal
-
If odor remains, try using a mixture of half white vinegar and half water to pour on top of the infected area. After pouring on the baking soda, repeat the same process above with paper towels to soak up the solution, and apply baking soda, rubbing it in with your fingers or a brush to get through the carpet fibers. Allow it to dry overnight or with a fan or heater. When it is dry, use a vacuum to suck up the baking soda.
