Side Effects of Night Sweats from Furosemide

Furosemide is given to patients to help their fluid retention. It is also given to those with congestive heart failure and kidney or liver disease to help reduce swelling. It does so by increasing the flow of urine by the kidneys.
  1. Symptoms

    • Patients taking furosemide may demonstrate symptoms of fluid imbalance, such as mouth dryness, thirst, restlessness, cramps and gastrointestinal disturbances.

    Night Sweats

    • Night sweats may be another symptom associated with furosemide. In these cases, the body is either reacting to the other symptoms or to medication by sweating the body out to cool it down.

    Before Use

    • Make sure you are not allergic to furosemide before taking the medication, as this could also cause your body to sweat because it is reacting to something it can't break down.

    Overdose

    • Signs of furosemide overdose include dehydration, hypotension, hypokalemia and blood volume reduction.

    Warning

    • If you are experiencing serious symptoms as a result of taking furosemide, speak with a medical professional immediately.
