Pepsid AC Side Effects

Eating certain foods for heartburn sufferers means dealing with a painful condition called gastroesophageal reflux. These people can limit their ingestion of heartburn causing foods and beverages, or they can seek relief from Pepsid AC. There are specific side effects that every user of Pepsid AC should be understand.

  1. Common Side Effects.

    • Common side effects of using Pepsid AC include headache, dizziness, diarrhea, constipation.

    Allergic Reactions.

    • Those allergic to famotidine (the effective acid reducer in Pepsid AC) may experience the following reactions: rash, itching, hives, breathing difficulties, swelling of face (lips, tongue, mouth), stomach pain, difficulty breathing.

    Severe Effects.

    • More severe reactions have included seizures and tightness in the chest of the user.

    Most Infrequent Effects of Note.

    • Though infrequently experienced, there are a host of effects to a range of body systems that include gastrointestinal, nervous, cardiovascular, endocrin, dermatologic, respiratory, and musculoskeletal systems. These effects are rare with most cases less than the 2 percent of those suffering side effects.

    Reaction With Other Drugs.

    • A major reaction will occor in patients taking Pepsid AC and Tizanidine (muscle relaxer). Tizanidine is found in brand name drugs: Zanaflax and Sirdalud.
