How to Test Hair for Drug Use

At home drug testing can be very convenient. • Alcohol wipes
• Scissors
• 100 hair strands

  Clean your scissors with alcohol wipes. Allow to dry completely before proceeding.

  Cut hair as close to the scalp as possible. You will need approximately 100 strands, which is roughly the same width as a pencil. Hold tight to the hair after you have cut it.

  Put the hair in the collection foil that came with your test. Different tests will have different criteria as to where you put your collected hair. All tests label these areas well.

  Place your collected hair into the packing envelope that came with your test. Make sure to include any labels or identification cards before you seal the test.

  Place the envelope in the mail and wait for your results. Your results may be delivered by mail, or via the Internet.
