1
Carry tissues or napkins in your pocket when venturing out to public places. Use them to protect your hands and fight germs when opening doors, flushing public toilets or touching objects such as shopping carts or railings. Toss the tissue or napkin into the nearest waste basket after each use.

2
Keep anti-bacterial hand cleaner in your purse, backpack or car. When you come into contact with items which you feel may be covered in germs, you can quickly rub the gel between your hands and you won't have to worry.
-
3
Use protective toilet seat covers when using public toilets. While it is rare to actually catch a disease from dirty toilets, you can set your mind at ease about germs by placing a barrier between them and you. Most major supermarkets or travel stores carry small packages of toilet seat covers as well, so that you can have a backup plan if they are not provided.

4
Protect yourself from airborne germs in public places if you have a seriously compromised immune system. While it may look silly, wearing a protective mouth and nose shield, such as a surgeon's mask, will help you to fight germs and stay healthy.
-
5
Follow the obvious rules of washing your hands regularly and throughly, avoiding touching your face, particularly the mouth, nose and eyes.
