How to Report Expired Nail Technician License

Standard procedure for reporting an expired nail technician's license involves alerting your state's Board of Cosmetology to the problem. Most Boards will require you to submit your complaint in written form using their official complaint form. There are multiple ways in which you can contact your local Board and obtain and submit the necessary paperwork for reporting the expired license.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the phone number for your state's Board of Cosmetology and call them. You can either look in the phone book for the number or find it on the Board's website (a quick Google search should get you to the website). Let the Board know what you are calling about, and they will give you further instructions about reporting the expired license.

    • 2

Go directly to the Board of Cosmetology and file a complaint in person as an alternative to calling. They will most likely provide you with an official complaint form, which you can fill out and submit.

    • 3

Look on your state's Board of Cosmetology website for the easiest way to access information about reporting the expired license. The website should have a link for consumer information, which details the procedure for filing a complaint.

    • 4

Print out the complaint form online if it is available. Your state's Board of Cosmetology website probably has a link to the necessary complaint form. Printing off the form from home will prevent you from having to go to the Board in person to file your complaint.

    • 5

Fill out the form completely, specifying the nail technician whose expired license you are reporting and the name, address and phone number of their place of employment.

    • 6

Mail the form to the Board, whose address should be given on the complaint form. You can also take the form to the Board in person and drop it off.
