Look for soreness and redness near the shot area. The area sometimes feels warm, hard and swollen. This should subside within two days of the Hepatitis B vaccination and is not of great concern.

Check for a low-grade fever which should go away one or two days after the shot is administered. If it does not, this is a sign that something may be going on. Contact your doctor's office.

Watch the vaccinated person for fatigue and irritability, as 2 out of 10 patients have these side effects. These side effects should subside within two days and are of no great concern.

Note any severe allergic reaction to the vaccine. People with serious allergies to baker's yeast sometimes have an allergic reaction to the Hepatitis B vaccine. These people should not get the vaccine. f they do, call your doctor immediately.
