What does nicotine do to your heart rate?
Nicotine increases your heart rate.
When you inhale nicotine, it goes to your lungs and is absorbed into your bloodstream. From there, it travels to your heart, where it binds to receptors on your heart muscle cells. This causes your heart rate to increase and your blood pressure to rise.
The increase in heart rate and blood pressure can put a strain on your heart and increase your risk of developing heart disease.
