* COPD: Cigarette smoking is the leading cause of COPD, a serious lung disease that can cause shortness of breath, coughing, and wheezing.
* Other diseases: Cigarette smoking also increases the risk of other diseases, including eye diseases, gum disease, and erectile dysfunction.
