  Read the directions for the machine you have. Some use different methods of getting the tobacco in the tube. Generally, the least expensive machines are the most difficult to use. On the other hand, the most expensive machines are just pretty. Get a middle of the line, durable and easy-to-use cigarette rolling machine.

  Put your supplies on a tray or a piece of paper on a table to contain your mess. You will end up getting little pieces of tobacco strewn about, so this will help make cleaning up easier.

  Place the tobacco in the machine evenly. If you just pile it up in there without using care, your cigarette is not going to look nice. Make sure that there aren't any gaps near the filter end, or your cigarette won't work properly and won't be as strong. When you seal the chamber make sure there aren't any ends of tobacco sticking out. Pack the cigarette according to the machine's directions.

  Remove the cigarette after you packed it with the machine. Hold the cigarette upright, with the filter toward the table. Gently tap the filter on the table to pack the tobacco more firmly. Place the cigarette in the case you use to store your cigarettes.
