How to Pack Emergency Supplies for Your Motorcycle Trip

It's vitally important, however, that you take the time to pack emergency provisions that could help you or a fellow rider in the event of unforeseen circumstances. Instructions

    • 1

Assemble a small tool kit that you can stow in one of your motorcycle's storage areas or in your backpack. This tool kit should include items you can use to perform any simple work on your motorcycle, should the need arise. Pack a tire pressure gauge, wrenches, spare motor and chain oil, a tire patch kit and a flashlight. Also carry your motorcycle's owner's manual.

Put together a basic first aid kit that you should have not only on your trip, but whenever you ride your motorcycle. The kit can be in either a hard or a soft case, and should contain items such as bandages, gauze, peroxide, tape, scissors, sunscreen, bug repellent and aspirin.

Assemble gear that will come in handy in the event of a weather emergency. This gear is best kept in your backpack and doesn't need to be left in your bike's storage areas, since it may not be relevant year-round. The kit should include a full rain suit, including gloves, a change of clothes and a portable clothes line you can use to hang wet gear once you reach your destination.

Pack a small amount of food and drink in the event that your motorcycle breaks down in a remote location and you need nourishment. Pack at least a couple bottles of water, some protein bars and a snack food such as nuts or trail mix.
