Spread the fabric square out with the right side of it facing downward on a flat surface. The right side of a fabric piece is the brighter colored side or the side with a print. Ease the wrinkles or creases out of the square. Choose a light, soft fabric such as linen, muslin or even silk or satin.

2
Run the glue stick along the outer edges of the square. Make the lines of glue no more than 1/8 inch wide.

3
Firmly pinch the edges inward by 1/8 inch. This creases the edges and adheres them to create a hemmed fabric square. Let dry for 10 minutes.

Embellish your handkerchief however you desire by experimenting with glue-on appliques or beads. Fabric paint is another option for adding design to the handkerchief.
