Instructions

Clear off a table or desk so that you have room to work. Make sure that your work space is clean as you will be working with delicate items. Remove the power cord and unplug the battery to your laptop before you begin the project. Open your laptop as if you were going to begin typing on it. Carefully begin running your fingers along the frame that makes up the laptop screen. By doing this you will see that the screen's frame will begin to pop off. Continue doing this until you have removed the frame.

Take your small screwdriver and carefully remove the six screws that are located along the edges of your PowerBook's screen. These screws are very tiny so store them in a cup or bowl for the time being.

    • 3

Remove the screen monitor from your laptop. Gently place the loose monitor onto your PowerBook's keyboard with the screen facing down. You will see that there is another frame on the side of the screen that is facing you. Remove this small second metal frame that is around the screen using your screwdriver. As you are removing the frame you will see that it is attached by tape and wires. Unscrew the frame and carefully peel back the tape and lean it against the side of your computer.

Repeat the same step for the side frame and remove the tape as well. Lift up to remove the LCD screen. Take out your new LCD replacement screen and install it using the reverse methods for removing the old one. Once you have finished, turn on your laptop to ensure that the screen is properly working.
